Well, I slept ungodly late today, woke up, and poked my head outside--where it was over 90 degrees, humid, and full of cicadas. I evaluated my schedule, decided there was nothing I needed to do, and spent the day inside with my air-conditioner watching "Buffy" and "Angel" and re-editing The Literary Spy Novel. I love Saturdays.

Am currently entangled in a fanfic-writing difficulty--an original character is developing into a Mary Sue despite my best efforts to stop her. I can't simply eliminate her; she's necessary to the plot. And it's an Alias fic no less--Mary Sue spies are almost as bad as Mary Sue Slayers-turned-vampires-with-souls. Any help from those knowledgeable would be appreciated.

Just finished reading Charles DeLint's "Spirits In the Wires", which blithely invents a sentient website called the Wordwood, and its effort to revenge itself on the hacker who sent it a virus. Trust me, it's a lot better than it sounds. DeLint is one of those splendid authors who adds little smudges of magic into the corners of his writing, so that it blends well with the 'real' landscape and characters.

Finally, a tiny little rant. Is anyone else with me in thinking that Catwoman's costume is A) stupid-looking, B) impractical as all get-out, C) that of a dominatrix from Heck, and D) really uncomfortable? I miss Julie Newmar.
