Come join me in the bookfort!
Aug. 9th, 2018 03:39 pmSocial media informs me that it is Book Lovers' Day. Or, as I think of it, a day that ends in "-day". *grins*
There are all manner of threads and posts bouncing around asking about favorite books, favorite genres, tropes you hate and tropes you love, top fives, comfort reads and escape reads, this that and the other. And since I don't enter into book discussions on Facebook (my 90-year-old grandmother does not need to know my tastes in erotica, nor do my various cousins need to watch me draw a flowchart of the psy/human/changeling relationships in the oeuvre of Nalini Singh), ask me anything here! I will talk to you about books. I will talk to you about books until you say "Oh look, Idris Elba holding a kitten!" and run swiftly in the opposite direction while I am distracted.
Reading Log: War Storm by Victoria Aveyard; Glow by Megan Bryant; The Book of the Unnamed Midwife by Meg Elison; The Kiss Quotient by Helen Hoang; The Barrow Will Send What It May by Margaret Killjoy; The Girl in the Green Silk Gown by Seanan McGuire; Spinning Silver by Naomi Novik; Ocean Light by Nalini Singh; An Argumentation of Historians by Jodi Taylor; The Red Threads of Fortune by JY Yang

Date: 2018-08-10 07:28 am (UTC)Mind you, anyone who asks me about my favourite authors had better be prepared for squeeing about K. B. Spangler, Ursula Vernon’s T. Kingfisher books, Ilona Andrews, Annie Bellet, Patricia Briggs, Melissa F. Olsen, and C. E. Murphy. And Anne Bishop. And Martha Wells. And Aliette de Bodard and Seanan Maguire and Jana Deleon and Rachel Aaron/Bach...
Ahem. Excuse me for blathering on, but I do love it when you get to have a conversation with someone and you rec an author and a while later the person comes back and squee over what they read!

Date: 2018-08-10 01:30 pm (UTC)I will happily blather with you about several of those authors. How much do I love Seanan McGuire? Let me count the ways, and illustrate them with pictures of her cats. And Anne Bishop's terra indigene books are Day 1 purchases for me, and Martha Wells' Murderbot is my patronus, and I'm not sure I can wait for the next Mercy Thompson book, or survive knowing that the next Kate Daniels book is the final one...
I need to try the T. Kingfisher books, I've heard a lot of squee about them. Annie Bellet and Jana Deleon I am not familiar with--do tell!
