A small, tired huzzah
Sep. 4th, 2018 01:11 pmHad a lovely weekend away at the Maryland Faire! I admit that the weekend would have been better if it hadn't been ninety degrees during the Faire, but there is nothing at all to be done about that. I shucked one skirt (the filmy white underskirt I wear under my cute striped skirt is completely SFW as long as I wear a slip underneath it), Yeats lived under an awning by the bookstall, and we both drank plenty of water and a fair amount of beer as well. Yeats talked to a lot of people, several of whom had brought the books from him last year and were jonesing for the sequel(s). And the bookstall folks are very ready to have him back when he writes fantasy again--next year's book is going to be a contemporary mystery. So we had fun.
However, between the Faire food all day Sunday (although I refuse to regret the white-chocolate-dipped key lime pie onna stick), the pizza we ordered late Sunday night because we were hungry and tipsy, and the mushroom-pesto-over-zoodles experiment yesterday (conclusion: mushroom pesto is good, zoodles are vile non-food), I seem to have gently poisoned myself. So I am using one of my remaining sick days to sit on the sofa and sip tea, while Westley and Hector rejoice in cuddles. I must feel better. Book release party is this coming weekend, and I refuse to miss it.
Reading Log: The Truth About Animals by Lucy Cooke; Armistice by Lara Elena Donnelly; Bloody Rose by Nicholas Eames; Sex with the Queen by Eleanor Herman; Island of the Mad by Laurie King; The Other Side of the Sun by Madeleine L'Engle; Limits of Power by Elizabeth Moon; Trail of Lightning by Rebecca Roanhorse; Jane Doe by Victoria Helen Stone; The Long-Lost Home by Maryrose Wood
