Holiday weekend was slightly less restful than planned. We broke even at the local book and arts fair on Saturday--attendance was sparse this year (possibly due to it being a holiday weekend rather than the immediate weekend after Halloween like it usually is), and the big open conference area it was held in this year was...not heated. At all. I was wearing my Elhoffer OG Agent 13 skirt and cardigan (no copyright infringement here folks, nothing to see, not the droids/agents you're looking for...), so I was warm, but Yeats was manfully shivering in his kilt, and had some polite but pointed words for the organizers on his Please Give Us Feedback form. Still, as mentioned, we broke even, and had celebratory drinks and snacks at a snazzy local bar.

We got home, and discovered that Westley had done something (we suspect roughhousing with Hector) that had his last remaining fang at a crooked angle, jutting out of his jaw. He looked like a tiny fuzzy half-orc. Since he was eating normally, behaving normally, and only jerked away if we actually touched the crooked tooth, we did not rush him to the emergency vet. I took him in yesterday morning instead--alas for my lazy Monday off, but it was for Westley. The vet confirmed that the fang was half-broken off and would need to be extracted, and honestly, most of the rest of his teeth too. This ended up costing...some money. Not quite four digits, but close. But this is what we have credit cards for, and between Christmas and Yeats' quarterly book monies coming in, we should be able to pay it down/off without too much trouble. Besides, Westley is home and healthy and snuggly, and has demonstrated that even mostly-toothless, he is still able to eat his tasty brown pellets. And the vet said that aside from his teeth, he's a very healthy 14-year-old cat, which was good to hear.

Four days to work this week, three days next week. Then Thanksgiving! One giant all-family one at cousin C's house (since Cousin Bridge is 8.9 months pregnant and reluctantly admitted that she probably could not fulfill all her hostess duties), then a small just-us Thanksgiving on Saturday. Yeats has ordered a duck to roast and has stuffing plans I am not privy to. I am eyeing this recipe for Brandied pumpkin and chestnut pie thoughtfully. I just need to locate sweet chestnut paste...
