On Saturday night, I started feeling blah. On Sunday, it became clear that Yeats' bug from the prior week had boomeranged back to me with a vengeance, since I had a sore throat, cough, and fever of 102.

Monday, hauled my tired self over to the urgent-care walk in clinic nearby, since my doctor had no openings for a week. Doctor looked me over, declared that my lingering mild sore throat and cough were nothing to be concerned about, and sent me home with a very basic soothing-syrup prescription. Spent the rest of the day on the couch marathoning "The Great British Baking Show".

Tuesday, woke up with an epic sore throat and hacking, gross cough. Aveline was very understanding about my taking a second sick day. Spent the day on the couch marathoning season 1 of the rebooted "One Day at a Time" and vowing to be Rita Moreno when I grow up. The cough got worse and worse, to the point that I had trouble both falling asleep and staying asleep because I kept having to wake up and cough my throat clear.

Today, Yeats got a snow day, and I could hardly talk without coughing. When the clinic called to follow up, I croaked that the cough was "significantly worse", and they were waiting for me when we got there (Yeats was determined to drive me, because he knows I'm an anxious snow driver when I'm not sick). New doctor looked me over, lifted a brow when I tried to exhale into a thing and broke into wet coughing both times, and diagnosed me with bronchitis. I now have antibiotics and codeine cough syrup, and I feel better already. Not 100% better, but better than at any point yesterday. I can also eat without pain, which I hadn't done since Sunday.

I need to go back to work tomorrow. Aveline and Anders can just yell at me across the office so I don't breathe on them. I'm just sick of being sick.

Ugh, bronchitis, my old enemy. You should do as you think best regarding work, of course, but I hope you'll be able to take it as easy as possible. Bronchitis can turn into pneumonia so easily. < hugs > My best tricks for surviving bronchitis are: Mucinex is the anti-cough stuff for during the day if the codeine makes you dopey (which it does to me). At night, though, the Mucinex keeps me awake. Honey in tea, or just swallowed straight, can help with the sore throat. Run the humidifier 24/7! (You probably already knew those, but just in case...)

Feel better soon!
