No, Aveline will not be representing you at your hearing tomorrow. Why? Well, you haven't actually signed a retainer agreement or paid her anything. Yes, you paid for a one-hour consult. That was last month, and you stretched it to ninety minutes by dint of a lot of cajoling. Since then, you've called three times hoping for "just a little more of her time", but no. No signed agreement, no retainer payment, no attorney.
No, sir, your argument that "I get really sappy and clingy when I'm drunk!" is not going to charm your ex and you are still going to have a restraining order on your record. And no, Anders is not going to sympathize because you're both dudes.
No, ma'am, I don't think that your having fled out of state with your infant is going to help your case at all. Also, you've been gone for almost six weeks, trying to spin it as an impulse trip to see your parents is not going to work.
Ma'am, your comment as your rights in your child were terminated that "It's okay, I can always have another one. Hell, I could go out and get pregnant right now!" did not endear you to anyone in the courtroom.
I will ask Aveline and Anders if they're willing to do an after-hours consult, sure. But if you're insistent that your job has no flexibility whatsoever and you could only ever come to the office after 7:00pm...well, I suggest you look for a different attorney. We're already open nine hours a day.
